In the upcoming movies The Two Towers (2002) and Return Of The King (2003), Éomer will be played by actor Karl Urban. Born in Wellington, New Zealand on June 7, 1972, Karl is best known for his multiple recurring roles on Xena: Warrior Princess, where he portrays Cupid, Julius Caesar, and Mael. Interestingly, Karl actually can ride -- and quite well, as seen by his role on a children's show called "Riding High." This helped him land the part of Eomer, though being in the right country at the right time (and looking good as a blond) probably helped too... Please note that I'm collecting photos of Karl in character as Eomer-- not an easy task, mind!

MESPT Eomer Says: "Personally, I think Karl's a great choice to play me -- he's good-looking and can ride, what more does he need? *wink* I'm looking forward to getting a better look at my onscreen counterpart. All I had to go on at first was a badly-cropped publicity shot, a few helmeted blurs, and about a SECOND of onscreen time from the Two Towers teaser. Hrmph. Eowyn is ahead of me in the publicity department again...as usual. But so's Faramir, and that's really embarrassing."
