Got a question? Got a problem with this site?
Please click here.

Quintas Says: I like comic books. I like MST3K. In a vain attempt to have a site that's different to all the other sites that have stuff on comic books or MST3K, I've decided to make a site that has comic books with MST3K. On this page you'll find a compilation of all the MiSTings on the Internet that have any relation to comic books and comic book characters. Just to clarify, a MiSTing is a piece of work (usually, though far from always, a rather sub-par piece of work) that has been given the "Mystery Science Theatre 3000" (MST3K) treatment. If you don't know what MST3K is, point your browser to the Frequently Asked Questions page. Then come back. It'll be worth it, trust me :-).

Kielle Says: Hello and welcome! Regretfully, Quintas is no longer able to run this site, so as of December 1999 she's graciously handed it over to yours truly. (Another archive? I must be insane.) Therefore, from now on, if you have any complaints, comments, requests, or submissions, please run them through me at kielle@subreality.com. This archive will be updated whenever possible, so stay tuned! All entries are marked by who added them to the archive (and who wrote the accompanying blurb) so you know who to blame:

g = Quintas    b = Kielle

UPDATE 4/4/00: As mentioned above, this archive has changed hands, and therefore we've got an update! Actually, chunks of it have been done since December 99, but things have been a bit hairy... New MSTings on this site include:

The site has been divided for usability into four main parts:

MiSTings Of Actual Comic Books
MiSTings Of Comic Book Fan Fiction
MiSTings By Comic Book Characters Or Fanfic Writers
Special Cases

MiSTings Of Actual Comic Books
Listed alphabetically by comic name & issue number

As much as I like comic books, I have to admit that there are some out there that just should never have been made. Featuring incoherent plotlines, rampant pluggings of other comics and mischaracterisations galore, these comics deserve everything they get. Of course, the really sad thing is that the companies expect you to pay for them...

Excalibur #111: The MST3K g
Original by Ben Raab
MiSTing by Tapestry

Tapestry is extremely unfond of Ben Raab, and considering what he's done with the once-brilliant Excalibur, who can blame her? In this MiSTing, the whole Excalibur team gets to extract its revenge as they riff their hearts away on one of Raab's more putrid issues. It's really rather good, and the characterisations are spot-on. Hey, Marvel, why don't you get this person to write Excalibur?

Excalibur #113 g
Original by Ben Raab
MiSTing by Suzene Campos

This comic has got to have the record for the most number of plugs for other comics in one book. If anyone actually wants to get the whole story, they'll have to pick up 3 more new comics and various back issues. Luckily, the comic is so badly written it's very unlikely that anyone with an IQ above that of the average Rob Liefeld fan would actually want to do this. On another note, as an extra bonus Mike and the bots are joined in their riffing by the Excalibur characters that were lucky enough to miss out on being featured in this mess. Not surprisingly, they're quite happy about it. :-)

Generation X #33 g
Original by Larry Hama
MiSTing by Spider

Let's be frank. Hama may have been a great writer on Wolverine, but on Generation X he just stinks. In this story, one of his earlier but no means better attempts, everyone goes out to dinner at the local diner, conveniently forgetting to set the ridiculously powerful alarm system and leaving a severely stuck window as the Massachusetts academy's only defense against thieves. And so of course, they get burgled. Luckily the thieves aren't terribly smart ( I say luckily because if they did have some small grain of intelligence the Gen-X kids would have no chance) and thus they are quickly tracked down and most of the stolen items are returned. 'Most' being the key phrase, for Hama mysteriously decided that this intriguing plotline really needed to be dragged out into the next issue as well. Now there's a good idea... As you may have guessed, this comic just isn't very good. In fact it's so bad, that when Joel and the bots read it they...oops, better not spoil it. Just read the darn thing!

No Hama, Please -- I'm Jewish (GenX #33) g
Original by Larry Hama
MiSTing by Maggie The Cat

If you're not a fan of Generation X, let me tell you a little story: once upon a time, there was a writer who was really good at writing Wolverine. Logically, someone then thought "Hey! Maybe the guy who writes a homicidal berserker with no plot continuity would be good at writing a team of teenaged mutants with lots of backstory!" And thus two comics went down the tubes: one because the writer left it, and one because the writer joined it. Here's what the kids of GenX think about the fiasco in their own words...

Green Smegs And Hama (GenX #34) g
Original by Larry Hama
MiSTing by Maggie The Cat

Yes, Hama's still at it -- so here's Maggie's delightfully demented and ever-so-slightly perverted version of Generation X, back for a second issue! This one stars (ugh) Tracy, a surefire hands-down shoo-in for Most Annoying GenX "Villain." Which is saying a lot, considering how their biggest baddie has mouths on his hands and wears a snorkel.

Hama 'Nother One -- On Me (GenX #35) g
Original by Larry Hama
MiSTing by Maggie The Cat & l.p. "bum" McKee

You know the comic deserves to be taken out back for a stout beating when the infamous bum rouses herself from semi-retirement to contribute a few good whacks of her own! Get out the heavy-duty Tylenol, folks: in this one Skin says "Ay caramba," Everett makes puns in the thick of battle, Jubilee uses the word "gonzo," and Banshee is unforgivably over-Irish. Again.

Generation X #42 g
Original by Larry Hama and Co.
MiSTing by Quamp

Yes folks, it's Hama again. What is it about this guy's run on Generation X that makes people want to make fun of it? Well okay, I think we know what it is. It's just really bad. In this issue we have the introduction of Bianca LaNeige and her seven dwarf-like critters, while Generation X plays mini-golf and a thousand year old pink haired teenager crashes a car. I swear, the Beatles in their most devoted hippie years never came up with material this trippy...

Generation X #47 g
Original by Larry Hama
MiSTing by Quamp and the Icehole.

Hooray, it's Hama's last issue! <Ahem> Anyway, Forge is called in build a new danger room at the Massachusetts Academy, but something goes wrong (doesn't it always?). Oh, and for some bizarre reason someone decided that it would be a good idea to have Gaia join the team. Heaven knows why, but maybe the next writer will be able to make something of her. This one certainly didn't. <sigh> The issue as a whole isn't as bad as most of Hama's run, but I'm betting that's got more to do with the editor than the man himself. Read on anyway...

Generation X #49: The MiSTing g
Original by Jay Faerber
MiSTing by Amethyst

Gee, you think that after Hama the GenX readers would fall down in abject worship at the feet of ANYONE who took over, especially a fellow ficwriter...but no, life isn't that easy. Apparently NO GenX author shall escape the wrath of the MSTies! This is Amythyst's first shot at the genre, and happily it's not her last...

Generation X #52: The MiSTing g
Original by Jay Faerber
MiSTing by Amythyst

Amy's back with a second helping of GenX Faerber-style -- and nope, she's no happier than she was the first time around. To cut a long story short, Tristan weasels his way into the plotline, Colossus makes a gratuitous guest appearance, there's something about a school dance (ugh), and Chamber bitches about his face for the thousandth time. Meanwhile, in the audience, the bots are up to something extremely weird...

X-Force #81 g
Original by John Francis Moore
MiSTing by Quamp

X-Force have somehow made their way to Hawaii. All is generally going well until they run into a faction of subterranean lava people (as you do) and then general chaos erupts. Oh, and they meet up with the Vanisher. It's...odd.

Sandman Mystery Theater 1992 g
Original by Dan Jurgens
MiSTing by Rich Morrissey

Mystery Science Theater 3000 is a cult comedy show about a man and his two robots buddies sitting down and making fun of bad movies.
Sandman Mystery Theater is a comic about a golden age hero who goes around wearing a gas mask on his face.
So what do you get when you cross the two? Why, the golden age sandman and two buddies sitting down and making fun of a bad comic of course! It works rather well too, it's amusing and the author adds in a lot of commentary on the history of the DC universe. A MiSTing that's funny and educational! What do you mean learning about the DC universe isn't educational?

Spider-Man: Invasion Of The Dragon Men g
Original author unknown
MiSTing by Mitch

Just when you think the fanficcers are bad, the pros hop up to the plate to show you how a REAL writer effs it up! If this putrid, patronizing little Spider-Man tale from the '70s doesn't make you urp up your lunch, you have a stronger stomach than I, Gunga Din. *shiver*

Star Trek: The Next Generation/X-Men: 2nd Contact g
Original by Dan Abnett & Ian Edginton
MiSTing by Matthew Blackwell, Bill Livingston, Peter Milan,
Michael K. Neylon and Eric J. Schepers

A phrase that might describe this rather ridiculous comic is "It seemed like a good idea at the time". Then again, "Shameless marketing ploy" could conceivably be just as appropriate. Whatever the reasons for it coming into being, the end result is just not very good. The 'plot' involves the two teams meeting up and being duped by Kang into doing shaky things to the timestream. Until Wesley Crusher turns up to save the day. <Looks back over what she just wrote> Wow, putting it like that, you've gotta wonder why anyone ever thought would be any good at all. On the flip side, the MiSTing is very neat and definitely worth a read. So what are you waiting for?

Uncanny X-Men #338 g
Original by Scott Lobdell
MiSTing by Catherine Johnson and Benjamin Wick

Basically a series of ongoing plotpoints with no effort made to provide a self-contained or even well-written story. All this, and Lobdell also manages to create two of the most obvious pseudonyms ever used in the history of spying. And no one suspects a thing. That's just really silly.

MiSTings Of Comic Book Fan Fiction
Listed alphabetically by MSTer

There's plenty of fan-fictions on the Internet that are as good as or better than the comics they are based on. Unfortunately, the inhabitants of the Satellite of Love never even get a look at those. They see only the most putrid, the most pathetic and the most ridiculous stories, and then they proceed to take the piss out of them :-).

Daughters Of Strongbow: Part 1 g
Original by Alan (John Alan Riggs)
MiSTing by Alan (John Alan Riggs)

Hey neat, an Elfquest MiSTing! The author of this story admits that it isn't particularly good, so he's decided to MiST it himself. He's doing a good job so far too :-). The story itself is rather strange and disjointed, and the character profiles that are stuck randomly into the text don't serve to help it any. But as I said, the MiSTing is spiffy!

The Daughters Of Strongbow: Part Two g
Original by Alan (a.k.a. John Alan Riggs)
MiSTing by Alan (a.k.a. John Alan Riggs)

Quintas was in charge of archiving the first "Daughters Of Strongbow" MST and seemed to actually understand what was going on in it, so maybe she could explain what the heck this is about, because I'm completely lost. Still, in a MSTing like this, that's not a bad thing! John's back for another one-on-one bout with his former self's transgressions against space, time, the fourth wall, and the Pinis' good name. Frankly, my money's on the current version of John.

The X-Factor (X-Men/Transformers) g
Original by Becky Roman
MiSTing by Andy

Yep, it's yet another goofy crossover, this time between the X-Men and the Transformers. Quite why the author decided that the two needed to be in a story together I don't know, but that's not the worst bit about this strange piece of fiction. The worst bit is that it stars a main character who is such a text book example of a Mary-Sue that it's frightening. Honestly, you've gotta read it to see it. And as an extra bonus, the MiSTing is cool too.

X-Men/Muppets g
Original by N
MiSTing by Andy

Yes folks, hold onto your hats 'cause it's goofy crossover time! In this little doozy, Kermit rather unwisely decides to have the X-Men star on the Muppet show. As you may imagine, general chaos erupts. The original story isn't so much bad as exceedingly silly and exceedingly disjointed. A odd but funny piece.

Are You There Gawd? It's Me, Rogue g
Original by Rebecca MacDonald
MiSTing by Arcadia Skywalker

Many things happen in this rather mind-boggling fic. Rouge angsts, which isn't unusual. Her teddy bear allows himself to be abused in many strange and unnatural ways, which, though kinda silly, isn't unusual considering that stuffed animals don't have a lot of choice in these things. Gambit acts like a complete sleaze which I guess isn't unusual, it just depends on who's writing him. And we find out that God is actually a Spanish guy in a huge sombrero who likes to play pool. This, I think you'll agree, is pretty unusual under any circumstances. Also pretty stupid. <sigh> On a brighter note the MiSTing is really good, including some neat host segments. See Bobo and the Observer hanging out on Webchat! See Tom's strange and previously unknown fixation on Paul McCartney! See Mike and the bots vogue! Oh, just read it, okay?

Kara Kent Appears g
Original by Dr. Thinker
MiSTing by Bill Livingston

Here's a lovely surprise for you: a summary from Dr. Thinker himself! Wow! Here's his take: "This comic story misted is mine. This story is about Kara In-Ze, the lastest Superman animaton addition gets her sercet indenity of Kara Kent. It will MiSted by Bill Livington. It's funny then a barrel of full of Mr. Mxyzptlks." Let's give this man a round of applause for being a wonderful good sport!

Maximum Carnage 2 (plus two shorts) g
Original by "JB"
MiSTing by Blazej Szpakowicz

And here we have the much awaited (well no, not really) sequel to the MSTing of Maximum Carnage. This isn't written by the original author but don't get your hopes up, it's still extremely dire. The story purports to be a Sailor Moon/Spiderman crossover, but really it's just a Sailor Moon story that just happens to have Venom tacked clumsily onto it. The author uses every cliched plot point in the book, manages to mischaracterise nearly everyone, and comes up with an ending which is so improbable it's laughable. Luckily the MiSTer has done a good job and the host segments are neat too. They're written in prose instead of script form and it makes a nice change.

New Mutants Vol II : No 1 & 2 g
Original by Doug Atkinson & Josh Medin
MiSTing by Doug Atkinson

Lila Cheney and Stevie Hunter decide for no well-defined reason to re-form the New Mutants, and then spend most of story displaying how riveting their organisational skills are. Halfway through they finally get around to acquiring some students, but, mysteriously, we're never actually told what they look like. Mike and the bots construe this as a mistake on the author's part, but personally I think it adds a much-needed air of mystery to the whole piece.

Sinister Unmasked g
Original by Shera Crawler 007
MiSTing by Hunter Felt

Oh, now this is just wrong. It's a "what happens between the panels" story, kind of like the internet's "Subreality Café" only...bad. According to Ms Crawler, between panels Jubilee smokes, drinks like a fish, and sleeps with Wolverine, Beast moonlights as a pink-furred transvestite, Sinister and Jean are having an affair and Bishop is so paranoid he puts the Lone Gunmen to shame. There's more, but you probably don't want to hear it. It's supposably a comedy but really it just kinda makes you feel dirty. Or at least it would, if you had to read it without the nifty MiSTing job. Thankfully this makes the whole thing a lot more palatable, and the host segments are a neat parody of the bizarre nature of the story.

Spider-Gwen g
Original by Static Pulse
MiSTing by Hunter Felt

If you have even the faintest grasp of Spider-Man's history, you probably looked at the above title and came to the same conclusion that I did, that this is a story about Spidey's ex (and intermittently dead) girlfriend Gwen Stacy somehow obtaining spider-like powers. You'd be wrong. No, this isn't about Gwen Stacy gaining spider powers. Instead it's about Gwen Stefani, lead singer of "No Doubt," gaining spider powers. No, no I'm not joking. You think I could invent something this goofy? I have to give the original author some credit though, anything that stars Zac Hanson as one of the main villains can't be that bad :-). The MiSTing as a whole is a hoot and very well done, so give it a read. <sighs and shakes head> I just wanna know where people come up with these ideas.

Batman: Rebirth g
Original by Jeff Kirvin
MiSTing by Jeff Kirvin (five years later)

Apparently Jeff thought that this old fic of his was so deserving of MiSTing that he did it himself. He assures us that he's a much better writer now though :-) . The plot is simple: Batman's identity is revealed, so he concocts a frankly pretty obvious plan to make people think that he has given up the crime-fighting game. Not really written badly, it just has a plot that has been done before, and better. No host segments in this one, dagnabbit.

Jammers g
Original by Prelate-Syphon
MiSTing by John "Omega" Seavey

This is one of my favourites. The story is just so terribly, intrinsically bad it's begging to be made fun of. Features characters with names such as "Hott Jammer" and "Plasmonica," dramatic action scenes that last all of two seconds, and a main character who enjoys Pauly Shore movies and having extremely dubious surgical procedures performed on him. In an attempt to emulate the hero of the piece Crow and Tom attempt dubious surgical procedures on Mike, but he just doesn't derive the same enjoyment from it. Spoilsport.

X-Force -- The New Breed g
Original by Red Monster
MiSTing by John Seavey and Jeff Mariano

No summary by request.

Ranma 1/2: Ranma vs. the Joker g
Original by Vegita1941
MiSTing by K. A. Pezzano and Sarah Dove

The plot of this fan fiction can be summed up in three words: People acting stupid. The Joker acts stupid. The supporting cast acts stupid. Ranma acts especially stupid. In fact no one in this entire story acts as if they have one iota of intelligence. Even Batman, in the brief appearance that he makes, manages to act inconceivably dumb for someone who's supposed to be the world's greatest detective. Fortunately, the MiSTing of 'Ranma vs. the Joker' is not at all stupid. It's rather clever and spiffy, which is good, because if this story held any more stupidity it might have a seriously draining effect on your IQ.

Legion #17 g
Original by Jesse N. Willey
MiSTing by Kielle

A few members of the Legionnaires meet up with lots of people with familiar names, someone loses their memory and then finds it again, and a heinous villain chuckles psychotically and steals Green Lantern's ring. At least, I think that's what happens.
I'm fairly sure...
Well, moderately...
Probably...
Okay, I admit it. I have absolutely no idea what is going on in this fan-fic. It's long, confusing and it stars the Legionnaires. I think. The MiSTing's pretty good though...

X-MST3K g
Original by Andrew Vincent
MiSTing by Kielle and Greg "Doc Nuke" Newcomb

This one's become a semi-classic on the net. It's a self-insertion fic starring the author, his friends, his siblings and a few token girls that he's probably got a crush on. Well, okay, it just shows their character profiles, it doesn't exactly star them. That's for the next story. This story is an introduction to the main character of Shadow (Andrew himself, sad to say), and it's about as fanboyish as they come. The MiSTing's host segments are also rather good, and it includes a spiffy little introduction piece at the beginning for those unfamiliar with MST3K. Cool!

X2-MST3K g
Original by Andrew Vincent
MiSTing by Kielle

And here we have the sequel. Well, at least some of the sequel. This MiSTing isn't finished yet, but Kielle's posted a sneak preview here for all of you who are wondering what it's going to be like. Say thank you everyone...

Blue Skies g
Original by Fancy Catz
MiSTing by Kevin Sigmund

A story that takes place in the Marvel Universe, but involves ordinary people. It's not really a badly written piece, it's just rather slow and doesn't have a lot happening in it. Mike and the bots (with a special appearance by Timmy!) spend most of the MiSTing trying to liven the plot up in various...interesting...ways ("I boarded, paid my fare and found an empty seat in the back...Timmy: Then I stripped naked and harassed the other passengers!")

Mystery Usenet Theater 3000: A Legion-Size Meeting g
Original by Doctor Thinker
MiSTing by Matt Blackwell

It's got Supergirl, and the Legion...and...uh...I'm really not sure who else, as every other word is misspelled. Translation is provided -- not for the entire story but...oh, my head hurts just thinking about it. Luckily, Matt's as brilliant as ever, and in his own way Dr. Thinker's kinda endearing. Therefore you should survive with at least a shred of sanity left, I hope.

Silver g
Original by Bluesilver
MiSTing by Me

Silver is an immensely powerful mutant with powers so all encompassing they can only be described as including "everything to do with sound". She also loses her temper at the drop of a hat, threatens to break the arm of anyone who calls her by her real name and has a teddy bear who chases her nightmares away. Yes girls and boys, our pal Silver is what some people would call a 'special' friend. Don't tell her that though, you probably won't survive. Anyway, this is the story of Silver's very short tenure with the Generation X team. She leaves after only a few weeks, but the author does suggest that she may end up joining the X-Men, an idea I find utterly ridiculous. What would the X-men do with a person who dresses like a punk, has trouble suppressing her violent side, won't be called by her real name and has a dark secret in her past? I mean honestly...

Note: This MiSTing does not have any host segments. However, Me has extended an offer to anyone who wants to write some, so if you're feeling creative and want to give it a try send them along to either her at the above address or me at kielle@subreality.com and I'll post them up. Me would also like to say that she did originally intend to write a host segment that ended up with the sixth door into the theatre being destroyed - hence there are only five at the beginning of the MiSTing. Anyway who wants to have a try at giving this MiSTing some host segments might want to incorporate this idea into them...

Hurricane's Revenge g
Original by Aaron Thall
MiSTing by Mike Allan, aka CultofTS

Don't you just love evil doppelgangers? The author of this story obviously does, as the main plot here revolves around the chaos caused by two evil doppelgangers from the "Age of Apocalypse" era, Hurricane and Deathsparkle. Yep, you heard right, Deathsparkle. If that isn't a name designed to fill you with terror I don't know what is...
But I digress. It seems that Hurricane is the evil twin of Tornado, the author's thinly veiled self-insertion character, while Deathsparkle is the evil twin of this worlds Jubilee. Oh, and even though she's apparently come from a world that's an apocalyptic nightmare, she still likes shopping. Some things never change. A nicely goofy story and a neat enough MiSTing job make this a good read, so go ahead!

View Master Of DOOM g
Original by Patrick Kane
MiSTing by Peter Milan

Ah. Well. What can I say about this rather odd piece of fiction? Firstly, and rather obviously, it isn't very good. It really isn't very good. Secondly, it's a crossover between the Tick and Captain America, which probably goes a long way to explaining why it isn't very good. Thirdly, it has the Tick displaying alarming similarities to either Torgo or the psycho guy from "Seven," while spending an obsessive amount of time looking into a view master. Trust me, that last sentence will make sense after you've read it. Probably. On the other hand, the MiSTing is great and I rather like the host segments, which basically involve the Observers, a decision and a few sets of Pan Pipes. Bet that's got you wondering :-).

Deadpool's Axe Grinder g
Original by The Commission on Superhuman Activities
MiSTing by Quamp

Not only is this bit of fan-fiction both incomplete and not particularly good, it's also half plagerised. Deadpool isn't even in half of the story, but when he does show up he's either sprouting lines that have been obviously lifted from his comic book, or, oddly enough, sleeping. Quite why the author has such a fascination with Deadpool sleeping is beyond me, but as you can probably imagine it doesn't exactly move the story along. Neat MiSTing though.

Callisto Vs Jean Grey g
Original by Michael Brower
MiSTing by Raymond South

Yes, it's a Xena: Warrior Princess/X-Men crossover. As Pearl put it, "It'll make you want to burn every comic book you've got...assuming you survive the experience! Nyahahhahahahahahahahahahahahhhahhhahahha....gasp....hold on...wheeze...ah, that's better. Achem. Nyahahahahahahahahahahahahahaaa!"

Three Stories by Turbo Ranger Prime g
Original by Turbo Ranger Prime
MiSTing by Rowark

Wow, this MiSTing certainly goes along at a hundred miles an hour. There's practically a riff for every line! Okay, this is included because the last and longest story MiSTed is about Gen13 and it's a doozy of a story at that. It introduces a new character and romantic interest for Fairchild (well of course!) named Classicist. Basically his costume consists of a painters smock over a spandex bodysuit, topped off by a beret. I don't really think I need to say any more...

Maximum Carnage g
Original by Victor Von Doom
MiSTing by Seth C. Triggs

This has no relation to the Spider-Man story arc of the same name. Instead, it is a crossover between Spider-Man and Sailor Moon. If those two didn't immediately spring to your mind as ideal crossover material, don't worry, you aren't the only one. Anyway, the story starts off with Queen Beryl enlisting Carnage's help to dispense with the Sailor Scouts, and pretty much goes downhill from there. Oh, and I have to add, if you don't like Sailor Moon you're going to love the ending. Mr. Triggs has done a great job of MiSTing this, picking out all the not-so-subtle intricacies of the author's writing and riffing them to pieces :-) . NOTE: Yes, Virginia, there IS a sequel!

The Era Of Apocalypse g
Original by Victor Von Doom
MiSTing by Spider

More goofy crossover action! This one's between Sailor Moon and the X-Men, which is bad enough. Unfortunately it's also written by Victor Von Doom, who's become somewhat infamous across the net for being...well...just not terribly good. There's also a neat backstory going on in the MiSTing itself, with Joel trying to stop Dr Forrester taking over the world by turning every bit of reading matter into bad fanfic. Frightening stuff.

2000x g
Original by Adam McPartlin
MiSTing by the Starbase Omega Crew

Welcome to the mutants of the future! God help us all. This story chronicles the 'adventures' of 2000-X, a group of ridiculously powerful mutants who apparently all have IQs that go past the mega-genius level into the now-that's-just-plain-stupid level. Unfortunately, they are still ultimately clueless. Why are they clueless? Well, despite collectively having the power and intelligence to solve all of the world's ills in one afternoon and still be home in time for tea, they seem quite happy to stay at school and be taught by Bobby Drake.
Yes, Bobby Drake.
I rest my case.

Doctor Who And The X-Men g
Original by Clyde Meli
MiSTing by Tyler Dion

I actually remember seeing this story about six months ago and thinking: "Boy, that would make a great MiSTing." Obviously Tyler Dion thought the same way, so here it is! The basic idea (with the Doctor and the X-Men meeting up to battle the dastardly combination of the Mara and the Adversary), could conceivably be the plot of a good story in the hands of the right writer. Unfortunately this is far from the right writer, and so we end up with a rather boring mish-mash where you never seriously believe that anyone's in any danger or that there's even a slight chance that the bad guys might win. The author also tries to fit in the entire history of the X-men without seeming heavy-handed, and fails completely. The only faintly exciting thing that happens is at the very end, and that's only because it's probably the most frighteningly ridiculous idea that's ever been proposed in the history of crossovers. I'd actually like to see someone write a story about it just to see how it would turn out :-). Anyway, the story's rotten but the MiSTing's cool, and I have to say that the cameo at the beginning is one of the most original (and probably most realistic, knowing the bots) uses of a ridiculously overused MiSTing concept that I've ever seen. Read this, it's cool!

The Legacy Concert Part 1 (with a SeaQuest 2047[?!] fic) g
Original by Jaymz Grey
MiSTing by Zach "Dstalker" Wilson

Okay, I admit it. Not all of this MiSTing is devoted to a comic fan-fic. In fact, "The Legacy Concert" only takes up the first third, because it's only the first part of the story. Still, I'm a completionist and the MiSTing is pretty good, so here it is. It's obvious that Jaymz (the original author) is a big Metallica fan, and in his desire to present a crossover between them and Generation X he's forgotten one very important thing: Generation X has nothing in common with Metallica. I suppose that with a good author this wouldn't really matter, but all we get here is a hopelessly contrived scenario that involves Generation X suddenly deciding to form a band and entering it into a competition. Coincidentally, the main prize just happens to be opening for Metallica. Didn't see that one coming.

MiSTings Of Non-Comic Stuff By Comic Book Characters And/Or Fanfic Writers
Listed alphabetically by MSTer

Here's a twist on the usual idea: having comic book characters do the MiSTing instead of Mike (or Joel) and the bots. The texts that have been misted with this technique are as varied as the characters that have been used. Still, they all involve comic book characters, and so they're all here. Enjoy! (Note from Kielle: as you can see by the heading above, I've started adding spam-slams and such starring fanfic writers themselves. A bit of a stretch, but hey -- you won't find them anywhere else!)

Tornado And Jubilee's X-MSTie Misadventure g
Original by some kind of travel agency I presume
MiSTing by Aaron "Tornado" Thall

Jubilee and the author's original creation, Tornado, riff away on an advertising spam that is trying to convince people to take a vacation package to Walt Disney World. This MiSTing is pretty good actually, much better than I expected it to be (I believe it's a first attempt).

Tornado And Jubilee's X-MSTie Misadventure, Part Deux g
Original by National Credit Systems, Inc
MiSTing by Aaron "Tornado" Thall

In this new and improved sequel the target is a rather silly spam by a debt collection agency. Perfect MiSTing material really, and Tornado and Co. do a good job of taking the mickey out of it. Look out for Ramone!

Tornado And Jubilee's X-MSTie Misadventure, Part 3: The Agony Continues... g
Original by R Jon Scott Hall Publications
MiSTing by Aaron "Tornado" Thall

The series continues with a rather paranoid post about a publication called "Snooping The Internet." Well, with a name like that you just know it's gotta be paranoid, don't you? Learn how to spy on your friends and family for just $39.99!

Anjela's First Spam g
Original by A Thomas Hill
MiSTing by Anjel X and Kathrine Star Cairo

The main MiSTers in the spam-slam are original, but the whole thing is set in the X-Mansion and Bobby does make a brief appearance so here it is. Basically it's your standard spam riffing, the spam in question being a particularly insipid example. It tries to encourage you to join their wonderful business while being particularly evasive about what the business actually does. I'm sure we can all imagine though...

The Revenge of the First Spam: Son of Spam g
Original by Rampant Spammers
MiSTing by Anjel X and Kathrine Star Cairo

In this sequel to the above MiSTing, Anjel X and friends check out the spammer's website and rip his idiotic schemes to pieces. They also burn a lot of popcorn and do cruel and unusual things to Iceman, but hey, that happens...

No...More...Numbers! g
Original by lottery people
MiSTing by Anjel X and Kathrine Star Cairo

Once more Anjel X and friends sit down to rip apart another insipid piece of spam. This one's about, and I quote: "Global Lottery Commission's POWERBALL LOTTERY SYNDICATES." As is often the case with spams that use long strings of capital letters, it's pretty obvious that the whole thing is, if not a scam, then at least a very shonky and poorly thought out deal. Anjel X and co. do a neat job of taking it apart and they've added some fun interludes with the residents of the X-mansion. Nicely done, and it's obvious they had a lot of fun with it :-).

6$ Into 6,000$ In Weeks g
Original by Rampant Spammers
MiSTing by Dex

Generation X's Jubilee and Emma Frost take a few minutes out of their busy academic schedule to deal with some incoming junkmail -- you know the kind, you've laughed at it yourself. At least, we hope you laughed. If you "hmmm"ed and forwarded it, we WILL find you and you WILL pay.

Mystery Science X-Men Theater 3000: "It Works!" g
Original by...umm...I dunno. Obviously some kind of masochist, because it's one of those "Make Money Fast" posts.
MiSTing by Kielle

A group of X-Men with senses of humour rip apart an insidious spam posting. Great therapy when you've had it up to here with chain-letter scam artists. Features Rogue, Iceman and Jean, though Bishop pokes his head in at the end to deliver his own...unique type of riffing.

Two Insipid Spams MiSTed By Generation X g
Originals by Insipid Spammers
MiSTing by Martha (and cats)

Ummm...just what it says really. Gen X try their hands at riffing a "Make Money Fast" post as well as one from the infamous Woodside Literary agency. Frightening stuff.

Surviving The Millenium g
Original by Angela Meade apparently
MiSTing by Phil Foster

An short little piece featuring Pryde and Wisdom riffing on a spam that claims to have the secret of how to survive into the next century without a metaphysical meltdown. I might be frightened if I knew what the heck that was.

Fat Absorb g
Original by unknown spammer MiSTing by Seraph This time Seraph and the crew take on a spammer advertising a miracle product that supposedly gets rid of excess fat with fairy dust or praying really hard while standing on your head or something equally asinine. Go fig.

Sharing The Pain g
Original by Internet marketing scumbags
MiSTing by Seraph

Seraph's not a MSTie, but she's read 'em. And when it comes to getting revenge on spammers, she knows a good thing when she sees it! Rather than rounding up the usual SOL crew or some fictives, however, this Australian fanficcer corners her fellow fanfic-writing buddies into...yes..."sharing the pain" for a brief but fun bit of MSTing of their own.

Special Cases
Listed alphabetically by MST title

The "special" in this title basically means anything that I couldn't fit into the other categories. Read on:

The Amazing Fresca g
Original by Andrew Hicks
MiSTing by Robert A. Green

What happens when a bad ficcer (what IS it with all these Andrews?!?) decides that he can create an idea out if the Amazing Kreskin, Fresca soda, and the 60s Batman TV show...? We're not joking, folks. We can't make up stuff this weird. Oh yeah, and Crow goes Furry. Cover your eyes and hide the livestock!

Batman Forever g
Original by a bunch of Hollywood script writers
MiSTing by Steven Savage and Daniel Sikorski

A MiSTing of a comic film! And one that darn well deserved it too. This MiSTing is based on one of the earlier scripts for the film and it's pretty darn cool. Watch in wonder as the Batman movie franchise makes its slow decline into complete rubbish! Fun for all!

Batman & Robin: The Script g
Original by Akiva Goldsman
MiSTing by...a whole shipload of people! It's a group MiSTing you see, so there's really too many to put in this little introduction.

Okay, you've read the warm up, now here's a MiSTing of the Batman movie that really deserved it. The plot's threadbare, the dialogue is corny and there's about 3 million main characters. Heaven forbid if this is what the general public thinks comics are like. It makes for a great MiSTing though!
*Warning* This file is really long. If I get any complaints I'll probably split it up...

Mystery Usenet Theater 3000: The Beast With Nine Bands g
Original by James Wolf
MiSTing by Matt Blackwell, Jacob Churosh, and Michael "Rottweiller" Wallen

When Mike and the bots challenge Pearl to pick something at random for the day's torment, she somehow manages to get her hands on a old Hulk tale. ?!? I didn't know they existed. Unfortunately, this one does. I won't reveal what the "beast with nine bands" is, but I guarantee that you'll groan in agony when you find out. Get comfortable. It hurts. It hurts a LOT.

Mortal Kombat/TMNT Crossover g
Original by TurtleNinja
MiSTing by Amanda Flowers

And here we have some fanfic based on the cartoon version of the turtles. As you may gather from the title, it's a crossover with "Mortal Kombat," and a particularly dire one at that. For starters, it's quite blatantly a self insertion fic, with the aforementioned TurtleNinja suddenly a full-blown member of the group. Secondly the author has placed herself in a romance with Leonardo. Thirdly, she has Shredder actually acting like a nice guy. Fourthly...well, I don't think I need to go on. The MiSTing's great though, and the whole thing's a fun read. The original fic is just...odd.

Mystery Elfquest Theater g
By Marty Kuhn

Errr...well this is...strange. I really don't know what to make of it. It appears to be a weird amalgamation of Elfquest and MST3K, if you can imagine that. It's just really odd. Really. Did I mention how odd it was?

The Penguin's Withdrawal/Joker's Fountain Of Youth g
With Short "A Stun Gun Could Save Your Life!
Original by Andrew Hicks
MiSTing by Joe Blevins

Now here's a goofy idea, fiction based on the 60's Batman show. It is, as you may have guessed, exceedingly cheesy, but cheesy in a good way. The MiSTing just serves to make the whole thing even funnier. And let's face it, you can't hate a story that has Robin ballet-dancing at gunpoint :-).

Tom Servo's Revenge g
Original by QueenB
MiSTing by Jesse N. Willey
MiSTing of the MiSTing by Me

Now this is odd, a MiSTing of a MiSTing! Me decided (rightly, I'd have to say) that Jesse Willey's MiSTing was rather sub-standard, so she misted it back! It is a bit harsh in places, but Willey mostly deserves everything he gets. It makes for rather confusing reading but what the hey, it's interesting and it's funny!

And Finally...

You may have noticed that I haven't listed many manga MiSTings on this page (I only add them if they also contain non-manga comic characters). There's a good reason for this, honest. It's not that I don't like manga or anything, it's just that there's already a site out there with all the manga and anime MiSTings you could ever want and I didn't see the need for duplication. So point your browsers to Shinji's Vault of Anime MSTings for manga MiSTings galore and even a bit more!

I also have to recommend Send Them The Post, Frank if you're fond of MiSTings. This page lists every MiSTing site on the internet, making it an invaluable resource.

Finally, drop in to Quinta's MST3K Fiction Site for all sorts of neat stories about the guys from the SOL.

And that's it folks! Hope you enjoyed the site. I'd like to thank all the authors for allowing me to put their stuff up here. If you enjoyed one of their MiSTings, why not drop them a line and tell them? Everyone loves feedback!

I'd also like to thank Kielle for her invaluable aid in getting this page up and running. I really appreciate it. This page is a part of CFAN, the best comic fan fiction links site on the web. And run by the aforementioned Kielle :-). (I don't care if this bit is self-serving, Quintas wrote it and I'm leaving it in as-is! ;) --K )

Feel free to send any comments, ideas, proposals, death threats etc. to Kielle. (Well, not the death threats...) I welcome feedback, and if you've got a Comic MiSTing of your own tucked away somewhere I'd love to give it a home :).
